Abstract:

The aim of this work is to design and construct a transmitter and receiver units for a laser tracking system for command guided technique. This technique is analyzed, and the analysis is used in the construction of the units. The technique is based on the determination of the projectile position by the base and calculation of the error angle between the line-of-sight and the projectile trajectory. The base computes the error angle and generates the correction signals. These signals are translated to frequencies to modulate a CW COi Laser of 10.6um wavelength. The modulated C02 Laser beam is received by an on board receiving unit to translate the frequencies to the original command signals for correction. This system consists of four electronic circuits, voltage to frequency converter, frequency to voltage converter, voltage selection, in addition to the interfacing cards. The experimental measurement shows the coincidence of the modulated frequencies with the output frequencies of voltage to frequency converter circuit. A study of the variation of the output frequencies of voltage to frequency converter circuit is included according to the variation of the applied voltage.
