Abstract:

A switched mode computer power supply is designed and implemented in this work. The present system has been given the Acronym COMPSUPVAL (COMputer Power SUPply eVALuation). Forward and push-pull converter types are mostly used when dealing with high power. The present work deals with the design, implementation and performance evaluation of forward type switched mode computer power supply. The design of each individual part in the supply is introduced and based upon the specifications of the computer power supply. A prototype computer power supply with output power 200W and output voltage +5, -5, +12, and -12 is designed, implemented and evaluated. The network uses bipolar metal type switching transistor and the used switching frequency is 40 kHz. It may be difficult to increase this value due to the limitations of transformer core.
