Abstract:

Several high-Tc super conducting samples of YBa2Cu3O6.5+5. Such compounds have been prepared by solid-state reaction (SSR) method. Three types of bulk superconductors were prepared, which are: - Type 1- superconductor of nominal composition YBa2Cu3O6.5-δ. Type 2- the superconductor YBa2Cu3.xAgxO6.5+δ ;(x=0.5, 0.7). Type 3- the superconductor YBa2Cu3O6.5+δ+Ag(x%wt);(x=10% and 30%). All these three type of superconductor were examined by XRD pattern, resistivity measurement by four probe method and iodomitric titration to find the oxygen content in these samples. The results shows that the critical temperature of first" type is (TC=84K) .While in the second type of superconductor the critical temperature (TC=85K) when (x=0.5) and (TC=74K) when (x=0.7). The result of the third type shows that (TC=91K) when (x=10%) and (TC=77K) when (x=30%). Also an experimental works were done to prepare wire shape superconductor using the following methods: - The Milt Quenching method using a mold. The Powder-In-Tube method (PIT) using Ag tubes. The results of this experimental work shows that the Milt quenching method found to be unpractical because the produced wires were brittle and cannot be used easily while the Powder-in-tube method gives favorable results for the resistivity measurement and the oxygen content of these samples. The result reveals that the wire produced from the compound YBa2Cu306.5+δ is the best one and the measured critical temperature is (TC=80K).
