Synthesis and Biological studies of New 1,2-diazin-3,6-dione, 2,3- phthalazin-1,4-dione,1,2,4-Triazole, 6H-1,3,4-Thiadiazine,and N-substituted -∆4- Oxazoline Derivatives

The scheme of this work involves synthesis of different five and six membered heterocyclic rings starting from 4-nitrophenyl hydrazine and two different acid hydrazides (benzoic hydrazide and            p-chlorobenzoic hydrazide) which were synthesized from their carboxylic acids.This work is divided into four different parts:

Quantitative Analysis of Cephalexin Antibiotic by using Normal and Derivative spectrophotometric Methods

      Cephalexin is a medical drug administrated commonly for the treatment of infections.Two methods were examined for determination of cephalexin based on conventional and derivative UV absorption spectrophotometry.The calibration curve at 262 nm has linear range extended from (1.5-100) ppm with relative standard deviations for the slope of 0.91 and correlation coefficient of 0.9993. The effect of pH on the determination of cephalexin at this wavelength was also investigated.

Synthesis of some derivatives of purines& pyrimidines and study their biological activity

This study includes preparation number of azo purines and pyrimidines derivatives were prepared by coupling of nitrogen bases with pheny1 diazonium salt.Toverify the prepared compound ultraviolet and visible    spectrum(UV-Vis),fourier transforms infrared spectrum(F.T.IR)and the ratiosof (C.H.N.) were calculated by specific analysis of the elements.

Determination of some elements in Basra and Kirkuk crude oil blends

This work represented a contribution to draw attention towards the amount of metals in Basra and Kirkuk crude oil blends. These metals may effect the processing refineries of crud oils.   In chapter one of this thesis, an introduction was given on the crude oil and it's origin including both inorganic and organic theories; also the composition and types of crude oil, the importance and the problems associated with the presence of the metals. Finally, the methods used for the determination of metals were given.
