
A Reseach Team from College of Science has published a research entitled The Prevalence of Some Epidemic Leishmania Spp.Isolated from Human Blood and Skin Samples.by assistant instructors Hider Fares Humody,Muna Baha Al-Din ,Nada Muhammad Alewy and Salay Hani Abd Al-Halek.
The research concentrates on the active evaluation of Direct Agglutination Test for the diagnosis of Leishmania using local antigens of three strains: Visceral, L. tropica, and L major.
The results show that this test outperformed in terms of sensitivity and specifity,noting the spread of Visceral Leishmania in greater extent among children under five years old.
L. tropica occurs in the age group from 6 to 30 years, with a higher incidence among males.
